Iregular is a Montreal-based digital art studio that creates audiovisual installations, large-scale sculptures, architectural projections and scenographies, with a focus on interactive and immersive experiences.

At the crossroads between art and technology, these artworks experiment with geometry, light, sound, typography, mathematics, algorithms, communication protocols, AI, and machine learning. Iregular also develops its own proprietary technologies. The studio works with the infinite and random combinations produced by interactive systems that the audience influences and transforms. The interaction is at the core of it all. It is only the relationship between the people and the piece that finalizes the artwork and gives it meaning.
Iregular has a portfolio of more than 50 artworks that toured in over 30 countries and has received a long list of prizes and awards for the design, technology, and creativity of its productions.

Iregular was founded in 2010 by Colombian-Canadian artist Daniel Iregui.

Our process

01
Continuous Creation
We are constantly researching and experimenting, building a growing archive of ideas that evolve into artworks and technologies.
02
Concept
Every project starts with questions. We define what the work should communicate, challenge, or evoke before considering how to build it.
03
Design and R&D
Concepts take shape through prototyping, testing, and iteration. Every decision is explored until the creative vision and technical approach become one.
04
Production
Code is our primary creation tool. We use multiple programming languages and proprietary technologies to transform visual systems, sound design, sensor data, scenography and user experience into a unique cohesive artwork.
05
Integration
Every project is delivered, installed and calibrated in its final environment. This is our last opportunity to push the project further and refine its details, with final adjustments making all the difference.
06
Operations & Support
We design experiences to run autonomously, with automated startup, shutdown, visual, and audio control. We also provide continuous remote monitoring to identify potential issues before they occur.

Artistic Statement

We create digital artworks that explore the relationship between people, technology, and the spaces they inhabit.

Whether interactive or generative, permanent or temporary, visually rich or sound-focused, indoor or outdoor, our works seek to create experiences that draw you in, shake your senses, and linger in your mind.

We create our own creative technologies and software. By shaping not only our artworks but also the tools and processes through which they are developed, we remain free to create without external constraints. All our artworks are authored collectively by the studio, reflecting our belief that creativity is the product of collaboration rather than one artist’s individual expression.
Design is the framework through which our work is conceived. Inspired by typography, object design, and grid systems, we seek beauty that emerges from systems capable of producing endless variations while maintaining coherence and clarity.

We create living, ever-evolving systems. Our artworks are never truly finished. They infinitely transform, driven by both embedded randomness and expressive human participation.

While our medium is digital, our subject is always human. We deliberately explore themes that resonate across cultures and backgrounds. Our ambition is to create works that are accessible to as many humans as possible.
