NEST is a series of sound-focused digital artworks that change the way we are used to experiencing interactive art.
Adaptable to any context, space, and size specifications, this modular piece draws inspiration from the harmonious formations perceived in nature and the instinctive defence mechanisms of insect colonies as humans approach their natural habitat.
When entering the space, the visitors are met with a dense and enveloping buzzing sound of flying insects. As they move around the nest(s), their human presence disrupts the natural calm: the insects react instantly, disturbed by the intrusion. Now it is the insects’ turn to unsettle the visitors, pushing them to step back and restore peace to the environment.
From this series, NEST: Colony is a nine-screen installation that plunges visitors into a vibrant sonic ecosystem of interconnected nests, transforming a unilateral interaction into a full immersion at the heart of the colony.
– THE SONAR TECHNOLOGY –
This project is the first to use SONAR, our sound location technology. Combining a proprietary tracking system, directional ultrasonic speakers, robotic arms and very specific sound design, we can now create audio experiences that follow participants and expose every person in the very same room to a different sonic reality.
